Behind the Story: Writing ஆனால் உணர்கிறேன்

The Spark

Every story begins with a single spark. For "ஆனால் உணர்கிறேன்" (But I Feel), it was an image: two people in a bustling Persian marketplace, centuries apart in time, connected by a gaze that transcends the ordinary.

The Structure

I wanted to weave two timelines — ancient Persia and modern-day life — connected by the recurring motif of eyes. The challenge was making both timelines feel authentic while maintaining a single emotional thread.

The Persian-era sections required formal, literary Tamil — the kind you might find in classical texts. The modern sections needed a more contemporary voice. This linguistic duality became one of the story's defining features.

The Theme

At its core, the story is about recognition — that moment when you look into someone's eyes and feel you've known them across lifetimes. The golden star necklace serves as a physical symbol of this connection.

"சில அன்புகள் நிரூபணம் கேட்பதில்லை — அவை உண்மையாக இருப்பதே அவற்றின் சான்று"
Some loves don't ask for proof — their truth is their own evidence.

What's Next

I'm currently adapting this story into a short film. The visual medium will allow me to explore the eye motif in ways that text alone cannot. Stay tuned for updates on the production process.
